How To Troubleshoot The Common Networking Issues With Your Tivo Device?

  1. Check complete power plugs: You need to check that all the power plugs should be connected to the supply. You can check it by observing the red indicator on the adapter.
  2. Check all the wires: You need to check whether the Ethernet cable is properly plugged into the router or not.
  3. All the connections made to DVR should also be properly checked. If you are using any additional device to connect your TiVo to the TiVo com activate or internet service, then check the connections of that device as well.
  4. Restart your Modem and Router: For this follow the steps mentioned below:
  • Unplug both the devices from the power supply and wait for 10 seconds. Reconnect your modem and router to the main supply and turn it on again.
  • Now go to next step.
  1. Check your internet by connecting another device to it: Try to open any website or page from another device that is connected to the same internet connection. This will diagnose your internet connection. If no page is opening on the device, then it means that there is some problem with your network .Under such case, you don’t need to call TiVo customer service number but call your internet service provider for help.
  2. If you are able to browse the contents from another device, then the problem lies within the TiVo device or you may not have done TiVo setup properly on your network.
  3. Check the signal strength of your wireless network by observing the indicators on your router and modem.
  4. If you have recently done one of the below-mentioned things, then you need to reconfigure the TiVo device on the network.

  • Have you installed a new router or modem on a home network?
  • To re-configure the network on TiVo device, you can take help from TiVo com support link.
  1. Restart the Box: This may solve the network problem.  This process may take some time. To restart your TiVo device; Go to settings and messages section> TiVo help> Restart box. The restarting function and procedure are almost same for all the TiVo models whether it is Roamio, Minis, Series3 or Premiere series.
  2. Now after completing the step 9, check your network connection on your device.
  • Go to ‘test network connection’ from the screen.
  • For TiVo Central, go to ‘network settings’ followed by troubleshooting network, then ‘test network connection’.
  • For roamio series, Tap on ‘Settings’> Network> troubleshoot network> check network speed.
  • If the error message is being displayed on the screen, then check the message related to the internet connection from the screen.
  1. Restart your TiVo box if you are still not able to connect to the network.
  2. Check your TiVo in a different location: If the network connection is Ok and you are still not able to connect to the network, then change the location of your TiVo device. This may solve your problem.
  • Now after connecting your device to the network at a new location. Check the signal strength of internet by clicking on ‘check network speed’ link. This will display the signal strength and speed.
  • If any error message is displayed on the screen, then check it and troubleshoot accordingly. You can easily find the solution for every error message on the internet.
